How to Add Special Characters in WordPress Posts:-We always wonder seeing special characters trademarks on popular sites for how they use copyright ©, registered ® or currency characters in their posts?
These special characters are not available on most keywords which make it difficult to use for beginners.
In our today’s post we will show you how easily you can add special characters in your WordPress articles. You can choose one of the easiest ways you like from below.
Add Special Characters in WP Block Editor:-
Block editor by default doesn’t come with special blocks or menu button in paragraph formatting options. However there are two ways to add special characters in WordPress block editor. Let’s have a look:
- Add Special Characters using HTML Entity Code:When you write any blog post, WordPress formats it automatically into HTML. It is the programming language used by most sites.
HTML comes with a number of HTML entities. These are special codes that you can use inside HTML to display symbols, characters, arrows and more.
This will allow you to add special characters in HTML that are normally unavailable in your keyword layouts.
For examples: if you wish to add a trademark /symbol or any other special character then you can use HTML entity code to display it.
Similarly, if you want to add copyright , then use © in your post.
Each HTML entity code starts with an ampersand sign & ends with semicolon. After adding an HTML entity code in post editor, it will not immediately turn into corresponding character. However when you publish and preview , you will see the special character instead of HTML entity code.
- Add Special Character using WordPress plugin:-
If you need to add characters on a regular basis, then its recommended to use a plugin instead of above method.
Initial thing you need to do is to install & activate “Insert Special Characters Plugin”. After activation, simply edit the post/page where you want to add special characters.
In the paragraph block, click on drop-down arrow in block toolbar and select special characters option.
This will show a popup with many special characters. Simply find and insert the characters you want to add.
Adding Special Characters in Old Classic Editor:-
If you guys are still using Old WordPress editor, then here we have the way to special character while writing posts in that as well.
Initially, you need to tap on kitchen sink button. This will expand the row of formatting options where you can see the special characters button.
Click on the particular button will bring a pop-up window showing some common special characters. It has copyright, currency symbol, trademark, registered signs, mathematical symbols and many more.
This method will only work if you are using old editor in WYSIWYG mode. If you are in text mode, then either you will need to switch to visual editor or make use of HTML entities method.
